Welcome to ABRA and 2003!

ABRA is off to a great start with our 2003 Sponsorship program. Please make sure to support those businesses that support your organization and let them know that you are an ABRA member. Without them, we could not award our finalists with all the great prizes at the end of the year. All barrel sponsors are sold for our ABRA point shows and we have one barrel sponsorship left for the Bayou Classic. You may notice that we still have no class sponsor for 8 & Under Barrels, 13 & Under Barrels and Open Poles. I would like to challenge contestants in these classes to secure a class sponsor before our August shows. The earlier we get a sponsorship, the sooner we can start advertising for the sponsor. Let me thank all 34 members that have already turned in their sponsorships and/or raffle tickets in order to meet their finalist requirements. We have over 200 members competing this year, and I encourage everyone to begin turning in their requirements early. The board is already discussing year end awards, but we cannot spend money that is not submitted. Remember, EVERYONE can qualify for the finals with the consolation class offered this year. A finalist in the top 15 positions in a class must bring in a minimum of $25 in sponsorships, or 3 good luck ads, or sell at least 50 raffle tickets. Consolation finalists will need to bring in at least $100 in sponsorships, raffle tickets, or a combination of the two. All 8 & under contestants riding in a minimum of 8 shows qualify for the finals and must meet the same requirements as those in the top 15. Sponsorship forms are available at any point show or on our official website.

ABRA will host the 4th annual Open 4D Bayou Classic on November 1st & 2nd, 2003 at the SugArena in New Iberia. This is a major fundraiser for our year-end awards and I encourage all members to participate. We are hoping to increase the added money to $5,000 this year, but we need additional sponsors in order to do this. All sponsorships obtained for this show count towards finalist requirements. Raffle items are needed for the two day raffle held during this show. We draw for prizes during each drag (every 5 riders), so we need a minimum of 80 raffle items. All families are asked to submit at least one item and can be turned in at any show. Please contact me if you need a Bayou Classic sponsorship form or if you have any questions about this event.
